Community Development Officer - Seymour Placed Based (Temporary)

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting new opportunity to join a diverse and dynamic Community Development Team until 30 June 2026. In this high-impact short-term position, you’ll lead stakeholder engagement, strengthen interagency collaboration, and drive the successful delivery of a flagship community resilience event that showcases the Seymour community. We’re seeking a strategic thinker with a passion for partnership-building and a commitment to delivering meaningful outcomes, including the delivery of high-quality and consistent standards of excellent customer service, providing timely and accurate support for both internal and external stakeholders. 

Key responsibilities for this role include: 

  • Developing consultative processes to enable the appropriate involvement of staff, volunteers, local community action group's and the wider community in planning and program development.
  • Identify vulnerable or at risk community groups with the objective of creating local support networks through programs and partnerships including but not limited to First Nations peoples.
  • Investigate and identify vulnerable or at risk community groups with the objective of creating local support networks through programs and partnerships.
  • Coordinate operational logistics for one flagship resilience event, including vendor management, site planning, compliance approvals, and on-the-day delivery to ensure a seamless and well-executed experience for participants and community.
  • Provide high quality customer service at all times with respect to the diversity and complexity of user needs in accordance with Council’s customer service charter and service standards.

This role is a Temporary, Full-time opportunity to June 2026 with a Monthly ADO. Remuneration begins at $91.6K to $99.6K (Band 6) plus superannuation.

About You

You will be a highly organised and experienced individual to join our team in the Community Development Officer - Seymour Placed Based role. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated experience in the delivery of community development frameworks, coupled with a strong background in partnership engagement and community liaison. You will possess a high level of collaboration skills working with diverse stakeholders, including government and community organisations, First Nations peoples, and local Seymour service providers. Our ideal candidate will have proven project management experience, ideally within community-based initiatives, and the ability to deliver programs and events that drive meaningful outcomes.

Our successful candidate will have excellent time management skills which will enable you to prioritise effectively and manage competing priorities while place-based in Seymour, excellent oral and written communication skills ensuring smooth interactions with staff, stakeholders, and the community. Success in this role will also require the ability to navigate diverse priorities and building strong, cross-functional relationships.
