About the Opportunity

Mitchell Shire Council is seeking enthusiastic and community-focused Casual Youth Workers to join our Youth Services team. This role provides an opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality youth development programs, activities and events that create safe, inclusive and engaging environments for young people across Mitchell Shire.

Working across Wallan, Broadford and Seymour, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of youth programs, support outreach and community engagement activities, facilitate youth participation initiatives and build positive relationships with young people, schools, community organisations and internal stakeholders. You will play an important role in promoting participation, wellbeing and inclusion while supporting young people to develop skills, confidence and connections within their community.

As part of a collaborative and dedicated team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects, work across a diverse range of youth initiatives and help deliver meaningful outcomes for one of Victoria's fastest growing municipalities.

This is a casual opportunity with the hourly rate beginning at $49.69 per hour (Band 5) plus superannuation.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and committed to creating safe, inclusive and engaging opportunities within the community.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience working with young people in a youth, community or education setting.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with young people, colleagues and community partners.
  • An understanding of contemporary issues affecting young people and a commitment to youth participation and positive development.
  • Completed or working towards tertiary qualifications in youth work, community development, social sciences or a related discipline.
  • A current Victorian Working with Children Check, National Police Check and Victorian Driver Licence.
