About the Opportunity

This position provides expert advice and operational support on Council’s obligations under the Child Safe Standards, Reportable Conduct Scheme, and workforce-related legislation. You will partner with leaders to develop and implement proactive workforce relations practices that align with Council’s values and legislative requirements. This role leads and advises on implementing Victorian Child Safe Standards, embedding safeguarding across Council operations. The Advisor provides guidance on reporting concerns, supports staff, volunteers, and leadership in child safety and compliance matters, and develops resources to strengthen stakeholder responsibilities. They promote a Child Safe Culture through training, advice, and collaboration, support reportable conduct management, and drive continuous improvement and best practice.

This role is a permanent part-time opportunity. Remuneration begins at $91.6k pro rata (Band 6) plus superannuation.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of Victorian child safety legislation, standards, and workforce-related obligations, along with hands-on experience in child safeguarding, reportable conduct case management, and organisational compliance. We are looking for someone who can exercise excellent judgment, stay resilient, and handle sensitive or complex situations with integrity and discretion. They’ll have a track record of building capability and fostering a positive culture across an organisation, using training, advice, and leadership to make a real difference. With strong communication and interpersonal skills, they’ll be able to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, creating trust and supporting a shared commitment to child safety and a respectful, safe workplace
