About the opportunity
Help shape how our community finds information, accesses services and connects with Council online.
Mitchell Shire Council is growing, and so is the way our community expects to interact with us. We’re looking for a Web and Digital Content Advisor to join our Communications and Engagement team on a 12-month fixed term basis, established specifically to support a major review and content refresh of Council’s website.
This role will play a hands-on part in improving how information is structured, written and presented online, helping ensure our website remains clear, accessible and genuinely useful for the community.
As the primary owner of web and digital content, you’ll work closely with teams across the organisation to turn complex information into plain English, improve user journeys and lift the overall customer experience.
You’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative team recognised for its strategic thinking, strong partnerships and practical, community-focused communications.
If you care about good writing, accessibility and digital clarity — and enjoy seeing tangible improvements from your work — this is a role where you’ll make a visible difference.
This role is a fixed term, full-time opportunity for twelve (12) months with a Monthly ADO. Remuneration begins at $91.6K (Band 6) plus superannuation.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting a major review and content update of Council’s corporate website
- Managing, writing, editing and publishing high-quality digital content
- Translating technical or policy information into clear, plain English
- Ensuring content meets accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA) and Council style guidelines
- Improving navigation, page structure and user journeys
- Advising and supporting staff on best-practice web content
- Using analytics and feedback to guide content improvements
- Supporting timely website updates during emergencies when required
About you
You’ll bring:
- Experience managing and publishing content for a corporate or large organisation website
- Strong plain-English writing and editing skills
- A solid understanding of accessibility, usability and user experience principles
- Experience using content management systems and digital publishing tools
- Confidence working with stakeholders and advising on content quality and standards
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
Experience working in local government or a complex organisation is an advantage, but not essential.
