Urban Design Coordinator
Shape how Mitchell grows, feels and functions.
Mitchell Shire Council is one of Victoria’s fastest-growing municipalities, located just 40 minutes from Melbourne where the city meets the country. With significant growth underway, this is a unique opportunity to influence how our communities are planned, designed and experienced.
About the Opportunity
Urban design is central to how our communities evolve—and this role leads that agenda for Council. As Urban Design Coordinator, you’ll embed high-quality design, strong place outcomes and public realm considerations across strategic planning, policy, capital works and major projects.
You’ll provide expert advice across a diverse portfolio, translating urban design principles into practical outcomes—from structure plans and precinct frameworks to subdivision design, public realm and town centre renewal. Working closely with internal teams, Executive and Councillors, as well as developers, consultants and government partners, you’ll champion collaboration and elevate urban design across the organisation.
This is a visible and influential role requiring strong judgement, the ability to navigate complexity and a focus on delivering best practice outcomes aligned to Mitchell’s growth and community needs. You’ll also contribute to leadership within Strategic Planning, mentoring staff and building capability.
This role is a permanent, full-time opportunity with a Monthly ADO. Remuneration begins at $119.2K to $133.3k pa (Band 8) plus superannuation.
