About the Opportunity

Mitchell Shire is changing fast. We’re looking for a skilled Traffic and Road Safety Coordinator who can lift consistency, strengthen standards and help keep our community moving safely.

In this role, you’ll coordinate Council’s traffic and road safety work — from development referrals to network safety, transport planning and asset standards. You’ll work closely with planners, engineers, VicRoads, developers and the community to deliver practical, compliant and defensible outcomes.

This isn’t just a technical role. It’s about shaping better decisions, clearer processes and safer streets for everyone who lives, works and travels in Mitchell.

What you’ll do

  • Coordinate the Traffic and Road Safety Team’s work program and priorities
  • Provide high-quality, timely and consistent traffic engineering advice
  • Guide development referrals and safety treatments in line with relevant standards
  • Strengthen processes, templates and evidence-based decision-making
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners

This role is a permanent full-time opportunity with a Monthly ADO. Remuneration begins at $119.2K to $133.3K (Band 8) plus superannuation.

About You

  • Degree in Civil Engineering and Registered Victorian Professional Engineer
  • Extensive experience in traffic and transport engineering
  • Strong ability to coordinate complex, concurrent workstreams
  • Clear, practical communicator who can negotiate and problem-solve
  • Comfortable using data, GIS and systems to improve outcomes
