Senior Facilities Officer

Be part of Victoria's last great story of growth

Mitchell Shire is where the city meets the country. Located just 40 minutes north of Melbourne, we're home to thriving townships, beautiful natural landscapes and some of Australia's fastest-growing communities.

With a current population of more than 64,000 residents and forecast growth to over 220,000 by 2046, there has never been a more exciting time to join Mitchell Shire Council. As we continue to grow, so do the opportunities to make a genuine difference to our community and help shape the future of one of Victoria's most dynamic municipalities.

At Mitchell Shire Council, you'll be part of a progressive, inclusive and supportive organisation that values collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. Together, we work as One Mitchell, guided by our values of Trusted, Engaged and Innovative.

About the Opportunity

Are you an experienced facilities professional who enjoys seeing the direct impact of your work on the community? As our Senior Facilities Officer, you'll play a key role in ensuring Council's buildings and facilities are safe, compliant, well-maintained and ready to support the services our residents rely on every day.

No two days are the same. You might start the morning inspecting community facilities and reviewing maintenance priorities, then work with contractors to deliver renewal projects, respond to stakeholder enquiries, prepare project scopes and budgets, or coordinate works that improve the condition and performance of Council assets. You'll balance hands-on facilities management with project coordination, contract management and long-term asset planning.

Working within a supportive and collaborative team, you'll partner with Service Managers, contractors, facility users and other Council departments to deliver practical solutions and high-quality outcomes. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, help shape future maintenance programs and play an important role in managing risk and compliance across Council's facilities portfolio.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with a Monthly ADO and the provision of a commuter use vehicle.

Remuneration begins at $94K to $102k (Band 6) plus superannuation.

Why Mitchell?

At Mitchell Shire Council, we are committed to creating a workplace where people can thrive and do their best work. In return for your contribution, you'll enjoy:

  • Flexible work arrangements where operationally possible
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Employee wellbeing initiatives and Employee Assistance Program support
  • A values-driven and supportive workplace culture
  • The opportunity to contribute to one of Victoria's fastest-growing municipalities
  • Meaningful work that makes a difference to our community

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about delivering great outcomes and enjoys working collaboratively with others.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring demonstrated experience in facilities management, building maintenance, asset renewal or commercial construction, along with a sound understanding of contractor management, compliance requirements and project delivery. You'll be confident managing competing priorities, making informed decisions and communicating effectively with people at all levels.
