Be part of Victoria's last great story of growth

Mitchell Shire is where the city meets the country. Located just 40 minutes north of Melbourne, we're home to thriving townships, beautiful natural landscapes and some of Australia's fastest-growing communities.

With a current population of more than 64,000 residents and forecast growth to over 220,000 by 2046, there has never been a more exciting time to join Mitchell Shire Council. As we continue to grow, so do the opportunities to make a genuine difference to our community and help shape the future of one of Victoria's most dynamic municipalities.

At Mitchell Shire Council, you'll be part of a progressive, inclusive and supportive organisation that values collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. Together, we work as One Mitchell, guided by our values of Trusted, Engaged and Innovative

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join Council’s Legal & Property team and contribute to the management of a diverse property portfolio.

In this role, you will support the delivery of day-to-day property services, including assisting with leases and licences, maintaining accurate property records, responding to internal and external enquiries and helping ensure Council meets its statutory and governance obligations.

You’ll work closely with a small, collaborative team and a range of stakeholders across Council and the community to support property transactions and ongoing portfolio management. No two days are the same – you might be preparing documentation, liaising with tenants, updating systems or assisting with property projects.

If you’re looking to build your experience in local government property in a supportive and growing environment, this is a great opportunity.

This role is a permanent opportunity with a Monthly ADO. Remuneration begins at $78.5K to $89.5K (Band 5) plus superannuation.

Why Mitchell?

At Mitchell Shire Council, we are committed to creating a workplace where people can thrive and do their best work. In return for your contribution, you'll enjoy:

  • Flexible work arrangements where operationally possible
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Employee wellbeing initiatives and Employee Assistance Program support
  • A values-driven and supportive workplace culture
  • The opportunity to contribute to one of Victoria's fastest-growing municipalities
  • Meaningful work that makes a difference to our community

About You

With a background in property, you’re organised, proactive and enjoy working across a variety of tasks. You have strong attention to detail and can manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate records and documentation.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in an administrative or property-related role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Good systems and data management skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office
  • A willingness to learn and develop knowledge of local government property processes and legislation
