Be part of Victoria's last great story of growth
Mitchell Shire is where the city meets the country. Located just 40 minutes north of Melbourne, we're home to thriving townships, beautiful natural landscapes and some of Australia's fastest-growing communities.
With a current population of more than 64,000 residents and forecast growth to over 220,000 by 2046, there has never been a more exciting time to join Mitchell Shire Council. As we continue to grow, so do the opportunities to make a genuine difference to our community and help shape the future of one of Victoria's most dynamic municipalities.
At Mitchell Shire Council, you'll be part of a progressive, inclusive and supportive organisation that values collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. Together, we work as One Mitchell, guided by our values of Trusted, Engaged and Innovative.
About the Opportunity
Mitchell Shire's parks, reserves, and streetscapes are at the heart of what makes this growing community such a great place to call home. As a Parks and Gardens Crew member within the Operations and Assets team, you'll play a hands-on role keeping those spaces safe, welcoming, and well-presented — with the backing of a local government employer that values its people and invests in their growth.

- Maintain parks, and open spaces across Mitchell Shire as part of our Mowing Team.
- Work as part of a supportive, close-knit crew in the Operations and Assets team
- Enjoy the stability and benefits of local government employment
- Access to training and development
- Make a visible, everyday difference to your local community
This is a permanent opportunity with a Fortnightly RDO, or the option of a 4 day week.
Remuneration begins at $74.1K to $77.8K (Band 3) plus superannuation.

About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about delivering great outcomes and enjoys working collaboratively with others.
To thrive in this role, you'll bring practical experience in parks, open space, or grounds maintenance, along with a genuine commitment to quality workmanship and community pride. Beyond the tools of the trade, we're looking for someone who shows up reliably, works safely, and contributes positively to a small, close-knit crew.
- Demonstrated experience in parks, grounds, or open space
- Current Victorian medium rigid truck licence
- Confidence operating ride-on mowers, handheld power tools, and related machinery
- A sound understanding of safe work practices in an outdoor environment
- Certificate II or III in a related Parks and Gardens field, or equivalent demonstrated practical experience
Just as important as your technical skills are the behaviours you bring to the team. Mitchell Shire Council values integrity, accountability, and respect — and we're looking for someone who reflects those values in the way they work with colleagues and engage with the community. If you're someone who takes ownership of your work, communicates openly, and looks for ways to keep improving, you'll find real opportunity here to grow your skills and build a long-term career in local government.
