Mitchell Shire is where the city meets the country. Located just 40 minutes north of Melbourne, we're home to thriving townships, beautiful natural landscapes and some of Australia's fastest-growing communities.
With a current population of more than 64,000 residents and forecast growth to over 220,000 by 2046, there has never been a more exciting time to join Mitchell Shire Council. As we continue to grow, so do the opportunities to make a genuine difference to our community and help shape the future of one of Victoria's most dynamic municipalities.
At Mitchell Shire Council, you'll be part of a progressive, inclusive and supportive organisation that values collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. Together, we work as One Mitchell, guided by our values of Trusted, Engaged and Innovative.
About the Opportunity
This is your opportunity to join Mitchell Shire Council as an Information Services Officer in a temporary, part-time role (3 days per week for 6 months). Working within the Customer Experience team, you will help ensure Council information is accurate, accessible and managed in line with legislative requirements—supporting better decision-making and service delivery for our community.
In this role, you’ll enjoy a varied and hands-on workload. A typical day might include processing incoming correspondence, maintaining records in Council’s electronic document management system, responding to internal enquiries, and assisting colleagues to locate important information. You’ll also support mail services and help ensure both digital and hard copy records are managed effectively.
Key responsibilities and outcomes include:
- Supporting the day-to-day operations of the Information Services Unit
- Accurately classifying, registering and maintaining Council records
- Ensuring records are stored, accessed and disposed of in line with legislation and policy
- Providing helpdesk support and guidance to staff on records management practices
- Assisting with Freedom of Information requests and information retrieval
- Contributing to continuous improvement of systems and processes
You’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative team that works closely with staff across Council. This provides great opportunities to build relationships, develop your skills in information management, and gain a broad understanding of how Council operates.
What makes this role rewarding is the impact your work has behind the scenes—ensuring the right information is available at the right time helps Council deliver efficient, transparent and accountable services to the community.
This is a temporary, part-time opportunity 45 hours per fortnight (3 days per week for 6 months) with flexibility in working arrangements.
Remuneration begins at $43.4K to $45.4K (Band 4) plus superannuation
