About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a customer-focused Debt Collection Officer to join our Revenue Team. This role plays an important part in supporting residents and businesses to manage their accounts, while ensuring Council can continue delivering essential services.
This role is about problem-solving, clear communication and finding fair, practical solutions.
You’ll work across rates, charges and sundry debts, engaging with customers respectfully and working closely with internal teams to resolve matters efficiently.
This is a permanent part-time position offering flexibility in how the 45.6 hours are distributed throughout the fortnight.
Remuneration begins at $76.4K to $87.1K (Band 5) pro-rata for part time, plus superannuation.
About You
You’ll bring strong communication skills, sound judgement and a calm, solutions-focused approach. Experience in revenue, accounts, debt collection or customer service is ideal — but we’re also open to candidates with transferable skills and a willingness to learn.
You’ll be someone who:
- Is confident speaking with customers about sensitive matters
- Can negotiate payment arrangements with empathy and professionalism
- Has good attention to detail and record-keeping skills
- Enjoys working within policies and procedures (training provided)
Local government experience is welcome but not essential.
