About the Opportunity

This role sits within Council’s Economic Development team and works directly with local businesses to deliver practical support, events and initiatives that help strengthen the local economy.

A typical day could include responding to business enquiries, managing business communications and promotional channels, coordinating workshops and business events, working with business groups, and planning and delivering economic development initiatives across the municipality.

You will work closely with local businesses, business associations, Council teams and external stakeholders, with plenty of variety across the role. It is a practical, hands on position where you can see the impact of your work through stronger business engagement, well delivered initiatives and events, and better outcomes for local businesses and the broader economy.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity with a Monthly ADO.

Remuneration begins at $94.1K to $102.3K (Band 6) plus superannuation.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about delivering great outcomes and enjoys working collaboratively with others.

You will bring positive energy, a practical approach and a genuine interest in helping local businesses succeed. You are someone who builds strong relationships, takes ownership of work and enjoys getting things done.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• A proactive, can do approach and the confidence to take ideas through to delivery
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with local businesses
• Experience coordinating and delivering events, programs, projects or business initiatives
• Strong written communication skills and confidence developing engaging business and promotional content
• Good organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
• A collaborative approach, while also being comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for outcomes
• Experience in economic development, business development, business support, marketing or a related field
• A relevant tertiary qualification in business, commerce, marketing, economics or a related discipline
• A current valid Victorian driver’s licence

You will suit this role if you are responsive, professional and comfortable working across a varied workload where priorities can change quickly. The position also provides an opportunity to build experience across business engagement, economic development programs, events, communications and broader Council initiatives.
