About the Opportunity
The Business and Investment Coordinator Role is a newly created position designed to align with Council's ambitious Economic Development agenda. With Council recently adopting the Economic Development Strategy 2026-2030, it is a perfect opportunity for an experienced and passionate economic development practitioner to come and test their skills in one of the most exciting regions in Victoria. The work done now will help ensure the ongoing economic prosperity of Mitchell Shire for decades to come.
From dealing with large scale developments and investment opportunities in the urban growth areas, to supporting small businesses in regional towns, and fostering new industries such as mining, this role has a bit of everything and will appeal to those who like variety in their work, and who enjoy a challenge.
The role oversees a small, but highly productive team which includes Council's business concierge service, investment attraction function, business engagement and workforce development. There will be the opportunity to guide and shape the work program of the team in accordance with the Economic Development Strategy.
This role is a permanent, full-time opportunity with a Monthly ADO. Remuneration begins at $119.2K to $133.3K (Band 8) plus superannuation.
About You
The ideal candidate for this role should have experience in delivering economic development, business growth or investment initiatives, ideally in a local government setting.
You should be a good communicator who enjoys working in dynamic environments where every day can look different to the next. Experience in leading teams, projects and programs to deliver measurable economic outcomes will be highly desirable.
Most importantly you should have a 'can do' attitude and be a person who proactively looks for solutions to challenges, and knows how to maximise opportunities when they arise.
