About the role 

Reporting to the Director Development and Infrastructure, the Manager Development Approvals will play an integral role in leading statutory planning, building services, leadership and team development, advocacy and advice to our Councillors, Executive and wider organisation. This opportunity aims to ensure we continue to innovate and do things differently facilitating development and investment that benefits the Mitchell Shire community and positions us as a local government leader in this space. 

As the Manager of Development Approvals you will lead this innovation and provide expert advice and leadership across the entire Council as well as actively developing strong relationships within the community to key opportunities for growth whilst managing key risks and liabilities. Ultimately that role will allow you to deliver a high-quality planning service that meets the Shire’s growing demands as the fastest growing council in Victoria.

About you 

You will be an excellent leader who is strategic, visionary with advanced negotiation and influencing skills with an ability to resolve disputes and broker agreements in complex situations. An active and passionate communicator with a proven ability to work across multidisciplinary teams in diverse organisations – you will be more than an experienced planner, you will be a creator and shaper of place and have a passion for positive community outcomes.  Importantly, you will be committed to developing the teams you lead creating a great workplace culture. Your leadership and effectiveness will be informed by a combination of technical qualifications, proven on the job experience and a commitment to continued professional development.
